When the Eastern Suburbs Railway was being constructed, two extra platforms (and associated tunnelling work) were partially built above platform 24 and 25 at Central. The extra platforms (26 and 27) have never been completed. They were once used as a document storage area, but now they collect dust, waiting to be used again...
